The characters, although slightly wooden, were very well drawn. In the first one, Ripley battled a normal alien. It's definitely not a great movie, but it's at least a lot better than Alien 3. The creatures were cool and scary although I wish we had seen more of the Queen; we still had the horrific Newborn which was truly demonic.

I can think of a more valuable attribute: They're apparently able to generate bio-mass out of thin air. I don't consider this movie to be cannon, and I'm not even a hardcore fan of the Alien universe.Over all really boring movie only watched ot because its part of alien series. Instead, Joss Whedon is brought in to create one of the lamest scripts in movie history. A group of scientists has cloned her-along with the alien queen inside her-hoping to breed the ultimate weapon. With its humble origins as a quiet, slow-burn sci-fi thriller, the series evolved through sequels and spin-offs into something else entirely. It made have had a cliche storyline but it had more action than Alien 3. Everything in the movie may be taking place within quotation marks, as in the melodramas of Douglas Sirk or, more obliquely, Gus van Sant's 'Psycho'. Definitely on par with ROBOT MONSTER. Cogs in a machine that you are not quite sure what they do. Was this review helpful? I think the third was okay, because it did achieve the dark and creepy feel it was going for, but was also a bit of a disappointment. Movie has some major holes in plot and I just didnt get like half of it.

Was this review helpful? They could have made resurrection much better if they would have spent more time with it. Does it make it my favorite? Obviously it can't get any worse like the third. That is, it's hard to the point where you'll spend as much time reloading your save … Sure it has tons of problems with it's plot but it has a decent set design, some pretty cool effects, and I also really like the fact that they make the Xenomorphs look a lot more realistic in this. By rocketing ahead 200 years from the previous film and jiggering the story cleverly (with a script by Toy Story coscreenwriter Joss Whedon as late-'90s wiseacreish as Alien3 was early-'90s portentous) to create a Ripley reconstructed through a mix of human and alien DNA, Alien Resurrection power-kicks the whole definition of the Horrifying Other into a fresh, deep, exhilaratingly thoughtful, millennium-sensitive direction. There doesn't seem to be anyone who isn't overacting. Don't say to say the third one was a dream, because then that would be corny and immature.
